Application Process

We carefully choose participants who are prepared to undergo and complete our intensive workforce development program. Candidates are screened for an ability to overcome adversity, an innate drive to succeed in the business world and a commitment to lead change in our communities.

Selection Process

i.c.stars anticipates hundreds of applications for every internship training cycle and accepts 20 participants for each session, making the selection process one of our toughest challenges. As a result, we have devised a fail-safe system that helps us pinpoint candidates who will fully embrace our program and mission.

All potential applicants must first attend an information session at our office. Applicants take part in an extensive assessment involving screening interviews and problem-solving skills. 

The Application Begins with an Information Session

You may apply any time, but your application will be considered once you attend an information session. We host these regularly at our office or you may contact us to schedule an appointment.   

Program requirements:

  • GED recipient or High School graduate
  • 6 months (780 hours) prior full-time work experience
  • This is a needs based program, so you must qualify according to our income guidelines
  • Availability from 8 a.m.–8 p.m., Monday–Friday for four consecutive months
  • Ability to uphold and honor an "On Time, No Absences" policy
  • Ability to commute daily to i.c.stars office in Milwaukee's Third Ward
  • Motivated to drive social change
